Job description

Deep Technical expertise combined with Sales and People Management Leadership

As Managing Director you’ll be strategically positioned to be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day management of the BeNeLux affiliate, driving the profitability and sustainability. You’ll work to develop a loyal customer base through direct selling and utilization of marketing tools. In this role, you will not be sitting at a desk all day. Up to 50% of the time, you will be out exploring the thrill of creating new markets and landing new customers.

More specifically, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Assess the external environment including the competitive landscape to help identify and develop new internal capabilities (i.e. sales & marketing) to support and grow the division’s revenue, profit, and growth goals.
  • Develop and enhance strategic relationships with partners including, suppliers, current and former customers, etc..
  • Manage the sales cycle and forecasting to prioritize and engage resources, effectively managing your sales funnel. Lead the Belgium team of 7 professionals (hiring, developing, and leading).
  • Propose and define sales objectives in terms of volume, turnover, prices and distribution, in agreement with the CEO and the business unit managers based in Germany.
  • Lead various national and international projects within Berthold.
  • Full P&L responsibility and systematically verify budget progress (financial controlling, budgeting, costs,…)

Profile

  • You have at least a Master Degree in Engineering ( Industrial, Electrical- Mechanical, Nuclear, Bio chemical or physics,…)
  • 8+ years’ experience with product and/or project sales in a Heavy Technical Industry (Nuclear, Bio Chemical, OEM,…) is a must.
  • At least 4+ years’ leadership experience in managing a commercial department or organization.
  • Excellent understanding of and proven success in a multi-level sales environment and modern commercial practices and trends in the Nuclear, Medical or Process engineering.
  • Extensive understanding of financial management including the ability to translate financial goals into actions plans for the Partnerships they serve.
  • You have developed and implemented strategies, roadmaps and work streams based on market developments and trends.
  • Fluency in Flemish and French (both verbal and written), conversational proficiency in English or German.
