Job description

Experienced people manager with a strong accounting background and excellent project management skills

  • You provide leadership, knowledge and support to the central accounting department ( general accounting and accounts payable ), currently consisting of about 25 people and you will bring the performance of your team to a next level. This department covers accounting services for multiple locations of the IKO group in Europe and UK
  • You oversee all central financial transactions and liase with business controlling activities, you organize and facilitate these activities while implementing and sharing best practices.
  • You act together with the Group Finance Manager as a change agent and manager, transferring and integrating local finance functions in Antwerp.
  • You support efficient operation of the financial reporting cycle and you assure continuous improvement of the existing reports and processess.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of month and year end closings and assure compliancy with group policies and local requirements.
  • You maintain excellent relationships with all internal stakeholders and you assure smooth communication between the Shared Service Center and the different plants and operations, and external partners, such as auditors and tax authorities.
  • In this role you report directly to the Group Finance Manager and the Group CFO (in function of projects)
  • The General Ledger Team Lead and the Accounts Payable Team Lead will be your direct reports


  • You have a Master in Economics ( e.g. Finance, Accounting, Commercial Sciences) and combine this with minimum 10 years of relevant financial experience, as financial controller and/or auditor, preferably in an international, industrial environment, of which at least 5 years of experience as Teamleader or Manager Accounting / Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • You have previous experience with ERP system implementation and finance process automation, in general, as well as experience with KPI’s driven follow-up of SSC processes
  • You are a strong people manager who can take the team and performance to the next level.
  • Your strong interpersonal skills enable you to easily connect with colleagues at different levels and in different countries.
  • You demonstrate strong organisational skills and project management expertise.
  • You are energetic, a self-starter with a "hands on" approach and a curious attitude.
  • You are attracted by working in a fast-paced and constantly improving environment, with responsibility for processes from start to finish.
  • You are native Dutch speaking, but also fluent in English.
  • Some periodic short term travel within EU and/or to UK, may be required (10%-20%).
