Based in the Province of Liège, our client is a highly technical industry leader renowned for its deep expertise.

Position

As Responsible for the Engineering Department, you drive the strategic technical vision, transforming organizational goals into a clear, actionable roadmap. This role ensures operational excellence and seamless cross-functional collaboration to maintain a solid competitive edge.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Strategically manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and managers within a matrix organization.
  • Translate corporate goals into a clear technical roadmap while ensuring projects meet high-quality standards.
  • Drive the transformation plan including make-or-buy strategies and KPI monitoring.
  • Optimize processes, governance, and tools based on design-oriented principles to increase organizational maturity.
  • Foster an inclusive, innovative, and learning-driven corporate culture focused on accountability and performance.
  • Deploy advanced technical methods and digital tools across the project lifecycle in collaboration with project management.
  • Manage capacity planning, succession mapping, talent development, and diversity initiatives within the department.

Profile

  • Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Optronics, Mechanics, Aeronautics) or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in a similar role within a technically challenging or highly regulated environment.
  • Deep understanding of complex systems, digital interfaces, and critical applications.
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and inspire high-performing, diverse, and intercultural teams.
  • Expertise in strategy deployment, cost estimation, risk management, and resource coordination under budget constraints.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and maintain a strategic perspective.
  • Full professional fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
