We are seeking a highly motivated (Senior) Scientist with a strong background in protein engineering and a Ph.D. in the field of Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Virology or Bio-engineering.

The scientist will be responsible for managing the discovery and preclinical development, as well as supporting the R&D of our pipeline candidate(s) with the aim to move the pipeline candidate(s) towards licensure. The person in this role will lead preclinical studies and activities related to antibody discovery as well as characterization of the pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic and toxicological properties required to progress pipeline candidate compounds to Clinical Candidate Declaration and subsequently support the clinical development.

The role requires a strong background in antibody discovery, strong protein engineering, structural biology and experience in study design, protocol writing, data evaluation, and the preparation of study reports and other written documentation of preclinical data.

Main responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, manage and execute preclinical studies and preclinical research projects
  • Translate research goals into action and accomplish the research target
  • Analyze and digest preclinical study data
  • Writing of preclinical study plans and reports
  • Writing of scientific publications
  • Present data to internal and external audiences
  • Keep up to date with the newest developments in the field and implement novel technology and/or assays
  • Master an extensive knowledge of and keep up to date with preclinical regulatory guidance
  • Initiate effective interactions with and manage external partners and contract research organizations CROs) to support pre-clinical development activities
  • Work with cross-functional colleagues to develop strategies, timelines and responsibilities for conduct of IND/CTA-enabling studies/activities

Reports to: Head of Preclinical Development


  • Strong protein engineering background and experience
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Virology, Bio-engineering or closely related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience (5+ years for Senior level) in drug discovery and development in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical environment after obtaining a Ph.D.
  • Contributed to successful transitions of drug candidates into clinical development resulting in favourable clinical outcomes
  • Strong background in antibody discovery and structural biology
  • Previous experience in infectious diseases field
  • Previous experience with direct supervision of research associates
  • Expert understanding of regulatory requirements in drug discovery and development
  • Previous experience with preparing INDs preferred
  • Good communication skills with different stakeholders
  • Ability to influence others with or without authority at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team
  • Experienced in managing and coordinating CROs/vendors
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical thought and judgment
