Job description
As our Digital Content Specialist, you will play a key role in improving VIB’s online presence. Together with the Communications Manager you will develop a social media strategy for VIB and design social media campaigns. You will turn existing content into engaging narratives for VIB’s diverse target audiences tailored to various channels, including web pages, e-mails, newsletters, blogs, social media posts, etc. You will work closely with colleagues from the communications team and the research centers to ensure a consistent tone of voice across all communication channels.
Responsibilities
- You develop and implement strategies to grow VIB’s online communities and engage stakeholders
- You provide content for VIB’s website, intranet, social media channels, and other (digital) projects across the institute
- You turn existing texts into engaging content tailored to various target audiences and channels
- You work closely with all VIB stakeholders within headquarters, the research centers, and core facilities to collect information and input and ensure that all web content is up-to-date, accurate, and has a clear purpose to end users
- You have an eye for detail and perform on-going quality control to ensure that all copy, imagery, and messages are of a high quality
- You know how to interpret Google Analytics data and implement SEO to generate more traffic
- You are familiar with social media planning/posting tools and are able to produce social media campaigns
- You monitor VIB’s online presence and prepare/present status reports
- You stay up-to-date with new advancements in the digital world and share these insights with the team
Profile
- You have a master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Bioengineering, or equivalent. Alternatively, you have a master’s degree in Communication Management or Journalism with proven work experience in a life sciences environment
- A keen interest in and affinity with life sciences and biotechnology is a must
- Highly organized, with the ability to multitask on various projects with tight deadlines
- Possess a data-driven mindset with the ability to use social media and web analytics to inform content strategy – you have the creativity of a copywriter with the analytical skills of a scientist
- Familiar with and comfortable using audience personas to orient strategic decisions
- Proven experience developing and executing social media campaigns on various platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
- An excellent writer and editor, with good spelling and grammar IN ENGLISH
- Able to research, collate and summarize information from different sources and stakeholders
- Proven ability to write persuasively for a variety of audiences (i.e. business, academic, and the general public).
- Experience using a content management system (preferably Drupal) to update and maintain VIB websites
- Can communicate confidently and clearly with a variey of stakeholders
- Capable of working autonomously as well as in a team
