Financial Controller

Tasks

Due to the accelerated growth of its activities over the past two years resulting from a multitude of new investments done in its portfolio of participations, our client is currently looking to strengthen its team with an enthusiastic and experienced Financial Controller

As a Financial Controller, you will report directly to the CFO/Fund Manager of Sofindev, be in close collaboration with the investment team, be responsible to support, structure and professionalize the reporting methods of the different portfolio companies that are managed by Sofindev, and help with Sofindev’s quarterly reporting obligations towards its investors:  

• You help and support the accounting and finance department of the portfolio companies to implement and improve their periodic financial reporting towards Sofindev’s investment team.
• You are a sounding board for the portfolio companies’ accounting, consolidation and reporting questions and make sure that the right financial and operational KPIs and analyses (actuals, budget, forecast,…) are performed and reported to Sofindev’s investment team.
• You support and advise the portfolio companies in financial reporting & process improvements, such as the implementation of Business Intelligence tools.
• You help and support Sofindev’s investment team to analyze the portfolio companies’ financial performance as part of its day-to-day monitoring of the investments as well as the periodic reporting obligations the portfolio companies have towards financial institutions (e.g. banks) and Sofindev’s quarterly reporting obligations towards its investors.
• Optionally, you also participate in the due diligence procedures of potential new participations in companies.
• Optionally, you will help the CFO/Fund Manager with Sofindev’s internal accounting requirements.

Profile

• You have a Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Management, or Economics.
• You started your professional career in consulting or audit and you already have at least 3 years of relevant experience as financial and/or business controller in a corporate environment.
• Good functional knowledge of Belgian GAAP is an asset.
• You have excellent Excel knowledge and affinity with accounting software, ERP systems, and BI tools.
• You have excellent knowledge of Dutch and English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
• You are hands-on, pragmatic, flexible and have strong analytical skills.
• You are a problem solver, results oriented, eager to learn, and pro-active.
• You are comfortable working in a changing environment, and easily adapting to changing priorities.
